Why we all need(ed) a postpartum doula, what it has to do with postpartum anxiety and depression, and action items for supporting new and expectant moms
I loved this episode, Micah! I had a terrible experience with my postpartum doula, which I think was partially because they are treated as a luxury in the United States, and not a necessity. Can't wait for Part 2!
I wrote about my postpartum doula experience here if anyone is interested:
Wow, thank you for this perspective, Sarene. I'm saving the link to your article to add to the show notes, and I'm so sorry you had such a negative experience. Part 2 is coming on Wednesday!
Thanks, Micah! I only had a bad experience because I didn’t know a) how to properly vet a doula and b) I didn’t know enough about them to ensure they were part of my plan ASAP. This is why these episodes are critical. Looking forward to Wednesday!
This is a great episode. I am so glad I found your podcast! I am a postpartum doula in the U.S. and it is my passion to also provide evidence-based support and help new families create communities where they can parent with confidence. Thanks for making this!
